Summer snippet

In the holidays I did a painting. My dad helped me with it. My dad told me never be afraid because if you do something wrong it doesn't matter because an animals fur or feathers can be any colour or shape. I enjoyed painting because I painted my favourite animals and I like art. When I was writing a recount about my painting I learnt where to put commas.
Here is a picture of my art and writing:
My Summer
In the holidays my brother, cousin and I were doing paintings.
We grabbed some paint and collected our canvases from my mums car and
raced like cheetahs to the table.
Quickly, we started to draw our picture on what we were going to paint.
I chose my chicken, Lulu.
After I drew her, I grabbed the paint and squirted the
thick pitch black paint and squeezed
the snowy white paint on to a piece of brown cardboard.
Slowly, I mixed the snowy white paint and the
black paint together as if I was mixing cake ingredients.
I started to flick the grey paint on to the canvases making her fluffy feathers.
Soon the grey feathers were complete.
After, I added bright, vibrant yellow and orange on her feathery wings and neck.
She looked amazing. It  was time for my background I made a browny,
yellowy colour for the paddock.
Carefully, I grabbed a wide paintbrush and swiped some paint onto my brush.
Next, I dabbed it in some cool crystal clear water.
Next, I splattered the paint onto the paddock
and spread the paint everywhere!
After doing the background and doing the lush green trees it was done!

I showed my mum and dad and guess what happened?...

  1. What did happen, Ronan? Your picture is great and I know that you certainly are an expert about chickens. It would be great if you would present your portrait to class tomorrow and I would like you to use your picture and knowledge of chickens to prove to the class how you know that a chicken is a life form.
