Summer snippet

In the holidays I did a painting. My dad helped me with it. My dad told me never be afraid because if you do something wrong it doesn't matter because an animals fur or feathers can be any colour or shape. I enjoyed painting because I painted my favourite animals and I like art. When I was writing a recount about my painting I learnt where to put commas.
Here is a picture of my art and writing:
My Summer
In the holidays my brother, cousin and I were doing paintings.
We grabbed some paint and collected our canvases from my mums car and
raced like cheetahs to the table.
Quickly, we started to draw our picture on what we were going to paint.
I chose my chicken, Lulu.
After I drew her, I grabbed the paint and squirted the
thick pitch black paint and squeezed
the snowy white paint on to a piece of brown cardboard.
Slowly, I mixed the snowy white paint and the
black paint together as if I was mixing cake ingredients.
I started to flick the grey paint on to the canvases making her fluffy feathers.
Soon the grey feathers were complete.
After, I added bright, vibrant yellow and orange on her feathery wings and neck.
She looked amazing. It  was time for my background I made a browny,
yellowy colour for the paddock.
Carefully, I grabbed a wide paintbrush and swiped some paint onto my brush.
Next, I dabbed it in some cool crystal clear water.
Next, I splattered the paint onto the paddock
and spread the paint everywhere!
After doing the background and doing the lush green trees it was done!

I showed my mum and dad and guess what happened?...

Fruit Art

Today for reading we got to choose an activity based on 'All about me'.  I chose Fruit Art. We had to use vegetables and fruit to make a portrait of ourselves. We then had to find the Maori words for the vegetables and fruits we used in our art. We also had to find the Maori words for the body parts of our person. I found it hard to find the Maori words for some of the vegetables and fruit. We had to look on online dictionaries or an online translator. It was easy to form the person.

My numeracy learning.

At the end of this year, my teachers said I was working at Early Stage 7 in numeracy. This is because when I am solving any kind of problem, I use a lot of different strategies plus my basic facts knowledge is very good. Here is a checklist of the numeracy knowledge I have gained during the year.  I still have a few gaps at Stage 6 level and I'm going to work on them over the holidays.

Go to the checklist here:

Christmas Sweden - Christmas New Zealand

Hello fellow bloggers.
Yesterday we read two articles about Christmas in Sweden and Christmas in New Zealand. We had to make a venn diagram to show what is different about Christmas in Sweden and what is different about Christmas in New Zealand. We also had to show what is the same about Christmas in both countries.
Here is Leonor and my venn diagram:

Pet Day

Hi fellow bloggers.
Recently we had Pet Day. We made Vaseline saucers. We had to rub Vaseline onto a plastic plate.  After that, we broke off little petals from flowers and made a pattern.  Our pattern had to be symmetrical. We got judged the next day. Sadly, I didn't get anything.
Here is a pic of me with my saucer:

PAT/Star tests T4

Hello fellow bloggers,
Yesterday we did a PAT maths test to see if we have learnt anything from the beginning of the year. In T1 I got 26/35 and in T4 I got 33/35. I am very happy that I have improved. The two questions I got wrong were: interpret a pictograph where each unit stands for 2 horses and Reflect a shape in a horizontal mirror line.
Here is my test:
